About 15 years ago, I joined my temple’s choir headed by the multi-talented and brilliant Kathy Storfer. Over time and with the guidance of Kathy, I started writing music for the liturgy. I am humbly proud to say that I was identified as the “composer in residence.” I never imagined doing it. Now there’s a part of me that can’t imagine not having done it. I am deeply indebted to Kathy, who is no longer with us, for the door she opened.
NEWSFLASH: “Mazal tov! Your piece, V’haeir eineinu, has been selected for inclusion in Transcontinental’s Shabbat Anthology, Volume VI.” so sayeth Transcontinental Music.
New News Flash. I was just notified by Linda Kingsbury Musical Director and Conductor that my song, Smoke, will be performed by the Yom Hashoah Ensemble Chorale at a future performance. I am truly honored and pleased to say the least.
Always in Hiding
Always in Fear
Constant denying
What is here…here…here…here
Into the night
Into the cold and dark of the night
No light
Into the wind
Into the howling wind
That keeps on blowing in.
Where have I gone?
What have I done?
Where do I go?
What do I do?……What do I do?……
Into the soul
Into an empty lifeless soul
So cold
Into the heat
Into the searing seething heat
Complete
Smoke…Smoke…Smoke
